McIntosh and Company was founded and opened by Dan McIntosh, Jr., CIC in February 1979. Mr. McIntosh remains active in the daily operation of the firm as  principal owner and President.

Mr. McIntosh began the agency as a one person operation, referred to within the insurance business as a “scratch agency”. During the 1980’s the agency grew steadily and what began as a one person office expanded numerous times adding additional staff members to handle the ever increasing customer base. In 1988 a new and larger office was built to house the agency. Throughout the 1990’s the firm continued to grow through targeted marketing strategies, a dedicated staff, good old fashioned hard work and the acquisition of three local agencies; Godbold and Glover, Compton Insurance and First Insurance, all were merged into McIntosh and Company’s operation. The building boom of the late 1990’s and 2000’s, combined with a team of dedicated professional associates, helped continue the agency’s growth. Today, McIntosh and Company is Douglasville’s oldest, locally owned independent insurance agency.

McIntosh and Company has been a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia since opening in 1979. IIAG is Georgia’s largest association of independent insurance agencies. The agency is a Trusted Choice member agency.

The partnership with several of our insurance companies has been established for over 25 years.
